Meet Media Mixed Abstract Art Artist: Mara Torres León
Since she had use of sense and reason, she was a strangely happy, curious and obsessed with life itself human being. Started exploring with mixed media materials and painting when she was twelve years old. Studied architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in NY, and years later internalized that lyric abstraction was her calling. In her practice she utilizes multiple mixed media materials over a variety of surfaces, including the design and development of installations. She study the behavior of the line summerging into abstraction. This line becomes the question, doubt and wakefulness of what begins but never ends. Color takes over structure. She finds herself in a constant reconciliation with the dialogue between her architecture origins and her calling as an imperfect woman abstract artist.

Piece was first created like the majority of her pieces, by coffee stains and from there fluidly create pieces with her unique liquid layering style mixing multiple materials such as markers, spray paints, charcoal, China ink, varnish, acrylics, iridescent paints and more. Each layer reveals the next one.

The idea of a solar panel as a canvas, has been one of the most interesting and creative surfaces she have worked on. Its natural perspectives that come with the design, served as a guide to create abstract layering flow in the piece.
Installations “Expansion / Expansión” Created and designed in situ 10’ x 11’ room.
“Expansion” is an installation designed to evoke optical illusions through abstraction and lined perspectives. Mixed media materials such as painted abstract acrylic panels, thread, wire, electrical tape, paper, etc… were used to create an optical and multidimensional space, where perspectives and lines are submerged into abstraction.
